AAEP Announces Summer Continuing Education for Vets

Equine veterinarians can supplement their foundational knowledge with the latest diagnostics and treatments in core areas of horse health when the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP) presents three continuing education meetings during summer 2016.

Events includes a 360° meeting that integrates lectures and small group wet labs into an immersive, hands-on learning experience; and two jointly held Focus meetings designed to present current evidence-based knowledge in distinct areas of medicine and enable attendees to participate in sessions of both meetings for one price.

Each meeting will feature a team of presenters from both private practice and academia. The meetings are:

360° Pain in the Neck—What’s the Story from Anatomy to Treatment
June 19-22, Fort Collins, Colorado
This course is limited to 20 participants and is designed to help attendees improve their use of in-the-field imagining diagnostics and therapeutic modalities to identify and treat cervical spine issues. Sponsored by Dechra Veterinary Products and Sound, 360° will be held at Colorado State University.

Focus on the Breeding Shed
July 25-27, New Orleans, Louisiana
Practical sessions and case-based discussions are designed to help practitioners improve the success of client reproductive programs through effective treatment of subfertility in mares and stallions utilizing proper facility design and appropriate resources, including assisted reproductive techniques.

Focus on Soft Tissue Lameness in the Performance Horse
July 25-27, New Orleans, Louisiana
This meeting is designed to allow practitioners to discover new approaches to old ideas about soft-tissue injury—a common cause of lameness—including novel imaging and treatment techniques, new data on hindlimb suspensory desmopathy, soft tissue impact on thoracolumbar lameness, and bisphosphonate therapy.

Focus on the Breeding Shed and Focus on Soft Tissue Lameness in the Performance Horse are supported by Platinum Level sponsors Dechra Veterinary Products, Merial, and Vetel Diagnostics, as well as Silver Level sponsor Soft-Ride.

Registration for each summer meeting is now open. To view a scientific program, register, or make hotel reservations, visit www.aaep.org/info/education.
