American Paint Association announces appointment of new editor

FORT WORTH, Texas The American Paint Horse Association (APHA) announced recently that Jeannie Blancq Putney of Lexington, Kentucky, has been named editor of Paint Horse Journal, the Association?s award-winning monthly magazine.

For the past three years, Putney has worked as a freelance journalist, photographer and a marketing consultant. She has written for a host of equine associations and organizations, including American Quarter Horse Association, Appaloosa Horse Club, Blood-Horse Publications, Breyer, the Louisville Equestrian Center, the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event, United Mountain Horse Incorporated, the United States Dressage Federation, the United States Eventing Association, the United States Equestrian Center, the United States Hunter Jumper Association and the 2010 World Equestrian Games Foundation.

Her work has also appeared in a number of equine publications and Web sites, including The Chronicle of the Horse, Delta Airlines? Sky magazine, Dressage Today, Endurance News, The Horse, Horsemen?s Yankee Pedlar, Kentucky Monthly, Keeneland magazine, Practical Horsemanwww.dressagedaily.com and www.horsesdaily.com. Putney graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism from the University of Maine and received a post-graduate Equine Business Certificate from the University of Louisville.

Putney comes to APHA with an extensive background in publishing and marketing. Her 2006 World Equestrian Games reining coverage from Aachen, Germany, won the prestigious National Reining Horse Association?s Vaquero Media Award, and her coverage of the same event took second place in the equine event coverage category of the 2006 American Horse Publications? awards competition.

During her years in Kentucky, she served as Marketing Manager for Eclipse Press/Blood-Horse Publications and the United States Equestrian Federation. She is an active member of the American Horse Publications, American Horse Council, International Sports Press Association, Appaloosa Horse Club, Kentucky Horse Council, United States Dressage Federation, United States Equestrian Federation and the United States Eventing Association.
