Animal-rights supporters oppose Missouri slaughterhouse bill

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) —  Missouri State Lawmaker who introduced a bill to clear the way for the slaughtering of horses for human consumption says he’s been getting some backlash from animal rights supporters .

Republican Jim Vie brock of the Springfield area says he’s had some threatening e-mails…

“You know, I got one that said they’d like to see me hung up and have my throat cut like beef they do in a processing plan,” Viebrock said, “They’re not polite.”

House Bill 1747 — which is still considered “alive and well” in the waning days of the session — would establish plant operation and meat inspection regulations for horse processing plants. Read More…
