AQHA CONTEST WINNERS GET CHANCE AT NATIONAL HANDICAPPING COMPETITION

Amarillo, Texas, May 20, 2006 – The American Quarter Horse Association will offer handicappers an opportunity to earn berths to the $800,000 Daily Racing Form / National Thoroughbred Racing Association National Handicapping Contest VIII with a series of online handicapping contests.

The winner of each contest earns a spot to compete at the DRF/NTRA NHC VIII to be held January 26-27, 2007 at Bally’s in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Last year, nearly 100,000 racing fans entered Daily Racing Form/NTRA National Handicapping Championship qualifying contests with 226 finalists qualifying for a trip to Las Vegas and the chance to earn a share of more than $500,000 in total prize money.

The first AQHA online handicapping competition is the Dash To The Challenge, Friday, May 19 through August 11. This contest consists of a series of MBNA America® Challenge Regional races held in conjunction with regional race weekends at Delta Downs, Les Bois Park, Sam Houston Race Park and Prairie Meadows.

AQHA’s second berth to the DRF/NTRA NHC VIII will be presented to the winner of the All American online contest which is held September 2 – 4, 2006. This contest will consist of four races – the All American Futurity, All American Derby, All American Gold Cup and Brigand Handicap.

The third online contest, held November 11, will consist of the 2006 MBNA America® Challenge Championship races – MBNA America Championship, Bayer Legend Derby, Professional’s Choice Claiming, Ford Juvenile, John Deere Distaff and Red Cell Distance.
