Basic Function:
Responsible for assisting AQHA Marketing Services Department with developing, producing and disseminating information and materials externally to promote American Quarter Horse racing. Coordinate relations between AQHA and racing industry affiliate associations and organizations. Be the primary liaison to the AQHA Racing Department and assist Senior Director of Racing with allocating funds to help achieve marketing objectives.
Basic Job Description
* Market and promote American Quarter Horse ownership and racing
activities. Require ongoing communication with racing department,
including setting clear goals and gaining input on racing priorities.
* Work with organizations to further develop and market American
Quarter Horse racing.
* Oversee American Quarter Horse racing on television and on
ESPN.com. This includes being the primary racing contact with
Winnercomm, TVG and Ć¢ā¬ÅAmericaĆ¢ā¬ā¢s HorseĆ¢ā¬Ā television.
* With Manager of Communications and Media Relations, The American
Quarter Horse Racing Journal and outside publications Ć¢ā¬ā oversee
all national racing publicity efforts.
* Market American Quarter Horse racing to develop simulcast markets
in nontraditional areas.
* Develop and place racing advertising in all publications; meet
with Racing/Racing Challenge staff to determine goals on
advertising and consistent look.
* Work with Racing Department, Racing Journal and Internet
concerning all AQHAracing.com information and contests.
* Develop and update racing marketing materials, including annual
collateral such as the media guide, owners guide, handicapping
guides and brochures.
* Serve as primary contact person for all MBNA America Racing
Challenge advertising and promotional material.
* Market the AQHA racing and 2-year-old polls.
* Work with racetracks to promote major races such as the All
American, Champion of Champions, etc.
* Attend AQHA Convention/Conference concerning racing marketing
functions, reports, updates and meetings.
* Act as NTRA relations primarily from a marketing perspective,
which includes promoting American Quarter Horse interests.
REQUIREMENTS:
BachelorĆ¢ā¬ā¢s degree in marketing, communications, racetrack industry program or related field. Five years experience in marketing and/or communications preferably in the racing, gaming, entertainment, leisure, travel or recreational fields. Ability to oversee multiple projects and desire to be in rapidly changing field.
INTERNAL RELATIONS:
Report to the Senior Director of Marketing and work closely with AQHA Racing Department and /The American Quarter Horse Racing Journal/ staff. Work with other members of AQHA Marketing Services as needed or directed.
EXTERNAL RELATIONS:
Maintain regular contact with racetracks, state and provincial affiliates and other racing organizations. Daily written and verbal contact with racing membership. Travel on behalf of AQHA to promote and enhance the image of the American Quarter Horse.
AQHA ASSISTANT MANAGER OF RACE MARKETING
Basic Function:
Work with manager of race marketing to market and promote American Quarter Horse racing. Assist as a liaison to AQHA Racing Department.
* Work with manager of race marketing to market and promote American
Quarter Horse racing
* Be the primary contact for AQHA racing and 2-year-old polls and
work to secure placement of polls in publications
* Primary contact to AQHA Racing Web site, ensuring content is
updated regularly, make recommendations on contest to increase traffic
* Work with staff at The American Quarter Horse Racing Journal,
Manager of Communications and Media Relations, and external
sources to publicize activities, events and programs
* Assist with marketing and promoting the MBNA America Quarter Horse
Racing Challenge
* With Manager of Race Marketing, develop and place racing
advertising in all publications (meet with Racing/Racing Challenge
staff to determine goals on advertising and desired look).
* With Manager of Race Marketing, develop and update racing
marketing materials, including annual collateral such as the media
guide, ownerĆ¢ā¬ā¢s guide, handicapping guides and brochures.
* Work with Manager of Communications and Media Relations to promote
AQHA marketing awards
* Work with racetracks to promote major races such as the All
American, Champion of Champions, etc.
* Attend various events as needed or requested, such as AQHA
Convention/Racing Conference, major races, etc.
* Assist with youth ownership development and AQHYA Racing Experience
* Travel as requested.
REQUIREMENTS:
