Topic Ethics in Horse Sales
For Immediate Release January 30, 2006
Amarillo, Texas – In a year filled with news accounts of political scandals, corporate greed and insider stock trading, the topic of ethics in business is on the mind of just about everyone. To stress the importance of ethics in the equine industry, the American Quarter Horse Association of Professional Horsemen’s third annual business workshop will devote an entire afternoon to that very topic.
Featured speakers for the workshop, which will be held Friday, March 3 from 1-5 p.m. at the Westin Hotel in Seattle in conjunction with AQHA’s Annual Convention, include:
· Ray Paulick, editor of Blood-Horse magazine
· Dr. Jerry Black, noted veterinarian and member of AQHA’s Public Policy Committee and past president of the American Association of Equine Practitioners
· Rachel McCart, attorney and owner of Equine Legal Solutions
· Vince Genco, managing partner of Pacific Airlift Inc., an international livestock transportation company.
A roundtable discussion and exercise to develop a code of ethics for horse sales will conclude the workshop.
“This is a topic that is vital for professional horsemen to address,†said AQHA Executive Vice President Bill Brewer. “One deal that goes sour can undermine one of the key points in AQHA’s mission statement – to promote ownership and growth of AQHA membership.
“I think we have the greatest group of professionals, and it’s exciting to see them take steps to ensure that they continue conducting their business transactions with the highest degree of integrity.â€
