The American Quarter Horse Journal, February 7, 2007 – The American Quarter Horse Association is pleased to announce its partnership with the Southwestern Exposition and Livestock Show, which recognizes winners in Versatility Ranch Horse competition, has been extended to include the amateur division.
“The Southwestern Exposition and Livestock Show has always been a great supporter of AQHA events,†said Bill Brewer, AQHA Executive Vice President. “AQHA is pleased they have extended its sponsorship of this growing competition.â€
The Southwestern Exposition and Livestock Show sponsors a specially commissioned bronze by renowned equine artist Lisa Perry that is presented to the year-end high-point open, amateur and youth for each competition year. These awards for 2006 will be presented at the 2007 AQHA Convention in Houston, Texas.
Versatility Ranch Horse competition, which debuted in 2002 at the Southwestern Exposition and Livestock Show, is a five-class event that showcases the ability of the American Quarter Horse as a working stock horse. The events – ranch riding, ranch trail, ranch cutting, working ranch horse and ranch conformation – are individually placed classes with credits awarded. The credits are then totaled to determine the overall placings. Incentive Fund-nominated horses can earn money in Versatility Ranch Horse competition.
