AQHA, USEF teaming to help Hurricane Victims

AQHA, is teaming with the United States Equestrian Federation and asking for your help so that we can lend assistance to ALL horses and horse owners who have been impacted by this unprecedented disaster.

It is clear that both humans and animals require immediate emergency relief from not only official agencies but from the generosity of individuals.

If you have a facility or pasture which you can offer to house refugee horses and ponies, provide transportation for victims of Hurricane Katrina or volunteer veterinary services, please complete the brief form on AQHA’s Web site. You also may call AQHA’s customer service at (806) 376-4811 but we prefer e-mails as we expect many members to respond.

Both AQHA and USEF will be posting a state-by-state listing of these facilities for horses and ponies on our Web sites. The lists can be accessed by going to either www.aqha.com/hurricanerelief or www.usef.org and clicking on the Hurricane Katrina Equine Relief icon. It is expected to be operational immediately and will serve as a master list to help horse owners in Katrina’s path find help.

Please do not send equine supplies or financial donations to us, however we encourage you to contact the American Red Cross www.redcross.org.

Thank you!
