Ranch Life 102 for cowboys, cowgirls and cowpokes presented by the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame
FORT WORTH, Texas – Bring your horse or use one of ours and join us in the beautiful hills of central Calif., July 20-22 for Cowgirl University’s Ranch Life 102 – a weekend of western experiences. Ranch Life 102, located on the spectacular V6 Ranch in Parkfield, Calif., is your opportunity to spend some time by yourself in the saddle or with friends and family enjoying authentic ranch life. National Cowgirl Hall of Fame Honoree Sheila Varian will be there to demonstrate her Vaquero Horsemanship skills that have made her one of the most well-known and well-respected Arabian horsewoman in the world as well as the talented Varian Family.
Ranch Life 102 begins with a “Ranch Talk” by host and instructor Jack Varian. He and his wife Zera along with their family have lived and worked on the V6 Ranch for almost 50 years. Both are an accomplished pair – Jack is a ranchland conservationist and recipient of the 2006 Leopold Award for conservation practices; Zera is an award-winning horsewoman, training and showing stock horses for 40 years. Their family includes talented horsemen and horsewomen and is proud to welcome Cowgirl U’s Ranch Life 102 to the V6 Ranch. Ranch Life 102 is open to men, women and children ages 12 to 18 and costs $750 per person; $1,200 per couple; $500 for children. This includes all your meals, ranch activities offered exclusively for Ranch Life 102 and camping facilities.
Here’s a look at the weekend’s activities:
Horsemanship and trail riding
Follow Zera Varian down the trail learning new horsemanship techniques along the way.
Roping dummy calves on foot and Hot Heals on horse
Grab your rope and catch the calf – dummy that is – on foot to practice your rope tying skills.
If you’re ready to take it to the next level, get in the saddle and follow a moving dummy to put all your skills together while horseback.
Knot tying/hat shaping
Learn to properly tie knots, a handy skill while being out on the ranch.
Observe hat shaping in progress and watch a limp hat come alive with style.
Swimming and fishing
Take a dip or sit on the banks waiting for the fish to bite on Durham Lake located on the V6 Ranch.
Team sorting
Learn to pen cattle as a team with other Cowgirl U participants and work together accomplishing a vital ranch activity.
Breakfast and dinner at the Ranch House
Lunch out on the Ranch
Western entertainment and a closing awards ceremony
Whether it’s trail riding or learning how to work cattle horseback or a little of both, you will be in the company of working cowgirls and cowboys who pride themselves as caretakers of the land. Space is limited so register today by calling 817-336-4475 or emailing bbates@cowgirl.net.
