Distemper becoming a growing concern in Bell County

Animal control officers in Temple are seeing an increase in the number of Distemper cases that could kill your dog.

They said it’s becoming a county-wide problem. According to veterinarians, the strain they’re seeing is very aggressive and cannot be cured, that’s why it’s imperative you vaccinate your dog.

For the past three weeks, veterinarian Lance Crews has had to euthanize several dogs with a virus that he hasn’t seen in 15 years, Distemper.

“For many years we had a lot of Distemper then, then it, I guess we vaccinated enough then we didn’t see hardly any cases, but now it’s coming back with a vengeance,” Crews said.
