Gold & Silver Cup Barrel Futurities & Sweepstakes

The first step to making any breeders’ bonus or incentive program work is to let the stallion and mare owners know what’ available to them. I have attached the XL Stallion Bonus & Incentive advertisement which will be included in the Feb. 24th issue of Speedhorse, which also includes the Silver Cup Futurity draw, conditions, schedule, and purse. In addition to the formation of the XL Stallion Bonus & Incentive we will be adding something to the Program for the Mare Owners!

I am in the process of organizing an XL Broodmare Bonus & Incentive. The Incentive Program will work as follows: Mare owners can nominate their mares any time during the breeding season (Feb. 1 thru June 30) for $35. In order to maintain mare eligibility a second payment of $35 will be due when the foal receives its registration papers/registered name (mare owners utilizing multiple embryo transfers will be required to pay a mare nomination for each embryo they wish to make eligible, and then a second payment for each resulting foal they wish to maintain eligibility on). Any mare which is bred to a stallion enrolled in the XL Stallion Bonus & Incentive Program, Future Fortunes, 5-States, Sunrise, Hawki, Boldheart,VGBRA or donated a breeding to the Speedhorse Gold & Silver Cup Barrel Horse Stallion Service Auction in 2006 will be eligible for nomination. This Incentive will be paid back to the broodmare owners the year these foals become futurity horses and compete at the Silver and Gold Cup Barrel futurities. Incentive money distribution will be based on a two run average from the two long goes.

Only mares participating in this program will be eligible for consideration for Broodmare of the Year and/or the Top 20 Producers. Which is where the Bonus portion of the program comes into play. The Bonus Program will recognize the Top 20 Producers (Dams of the Top 20 Futurity Money Earners), as well as a Broodmare of the Year, beginning in 2006. A $1,000 Bonus Check and a $1,500 Jessie Jaymes Silversmiths Trophy Buckle will be awarded annually to the Broodmare of the Year. A Bonus Awards program will also be structured for the Top 20 Producers depending on the total number of Broodmare nominations received this year. The selection of the Broodmare of the Year will be based on season progeny earnings, # of Futurity Championships, and # of times horse(s) placed in Futurity competition.

This is basically the same format on which the Speedhorse Quarter Horse Futurity was initially formed…the year we started the program we received 2,214 mare nominations! We paid back $50K in broodmare owners awards at the first Speedhorse Futurity ever run. That program was formed in 1989…I don’t think it’s unrealistic to think the barrel race industry today could easily surpass those numbers.

We will be forwarding the full conditions for the the XL Broodmare Owners’ Incentive shortly after we return from the Silver Cup Barrel Futurity. In the mean time, if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call me, my phone number is (405) 288-0919. Any type press release you could give us using this information and the attached pdf that could be posted on your web site would be greatly appreciated. If there is no free listing available please let me forward your advertising rates to me. I will especially want to keep the Broodmare Bonus & Incentive Program info out there thru June 30.

Have A Great Day!
