HORSE AUTHOR TO SIGN BOOKS AT EXPO

(Lancaster, PA) – Popular author Ron Hevener is set to appear at the Pennsylvania Horse World Expo this week at the State Farm Show Complex. In addition to being a speaker, Hevener will be signing copies of his novel, “Fate of the Stallion” and introducing the Arabian stallion being featured in the TV documentary being filmed of the story.

“It wasn’t easy finding a horse to portray Nahgua in the story,” says Hevener, who lost the real-life hero of the novel several months ago due to heart failure. “But we found him. I hope the story’s readers like him as much as I do.”

The new stallion, named Selket Louchiano, is “a beautiful bay color, just like Nahgua was,” says Hevener.  “He’s unusually tall for an Arabian,” the writer/filmmaker adds.

Hevener and his Arabian racing stallion rose to international fame after publication of the novel, written for horse lovers who grew up reading stories about The Black Stallion, Misty of Chincoteague Island “and other great animals.” Copies of the book, now in its second printing, were made available at horse shows, online and in selected bookstores. By the time of Nahgua’s death last year, tens of thousands of well-wishers from around the world sent their regards for the horse that was reported in the media as “one of Lancaster County’s most celebrated residents.”

The heart-warming novel, written for all ages, chronicles the story of two mischievous grandmothers joining forces to help their granddaughter. Seeking the advice of the late Walter Farley, who wrote their favorite horse stories and now watches over the lives of horse lovers everywhere, they embark on their own version of the adventures they grew up reading. With the help of some “horse magic” in the form of a real-life Arabian stallion, the unlikely trio jumps in to change the course of destiny and fate as the girl’s broken family is given a second chance at love.

The 2007 Pennsylvania Horse World Expo runs Thursday, February 22 through Sunday, February 25 at the Farm Show Building, Harrisburg.
