HORSE DONATION IS DOUBLY REWARDING

Amarillo, Texas, February 6, 2006 — Consider giving the gift of flight – a ride aboard an American Quarter Horse – to special-needs individuals.

The American Quarter Horse Foundation and AQHA Professional Horsemen encourage American Quarter Horse owners to consider donating qualified horses to a North American Riding for the Handicapped Association center in their area. You’ll be rewarded with the satisfaction of knowing your horse is helping others. Plus, therapeutic riders will be grateful for the fun, healing benefits that your horse could provide.

At NARHA centers across the country, horses make dreams come true for individuals with a wide variety of physical and emotional limitations, including cerebral palsy, learning disabilities, hearing or visual impairments and brain injuries. Therapeutic riding improves patients’ balance, joint mobility, coordination, muscle tone and posture. It also increases students’ motor skills, confidence and problem-solving abilities.

Your horse could play a vital role in helping therapeutic riders experience life-changing benefits!

Centers are looking for horses that are ideally suited for equine-assisted activities. They evaluate each prospective horse’s conformation, health, age, gait and manner of going, attitude, reliability and adaptability.

Visit narha.org to find a center near you.

“If the center is set up as a qualifying non-profit, we can offer donors the opportunity to qualify for a tax deduction,” said Julia Bozzo, executive director of the Northwest Therapeutic Riding Center in Bellingham, Washington. “Centers offer food, lodging, maintenance and veterinary care for the donated horse. We also offer the horse a job, which includes helping others.”

Consider giving the gift of flight by donating a horse. Or give your monetary donation to America’s Horse Cares, a Foundation program that supports NARHA centers, by visiting aqha.com/foundation or calling (806) 378-5000.
