Horse is therapeutic for boy with cerebral palsy

When doctors told 13-month-old Ryan Woods’ parents that their little guy had cerebral palsy, they mobilized for action.

Michelle and Bradley set out to find each and every therapy that might be beneficial for their son. Ryan’s physical therapist and developmental specialist both mentioned hippotherapy.

Taken literally, the word means horse-assisted treatment. The American Hippotherapy Association (AHA) defines it as a term referring to the use of the movement of the horse as a strategy to address impairments, functional limitations, and disabilities in patients with neuromusculoskeletal dysfunction.
