Longest Tenured AQHA Partner Extends Contract

Amarillo, Texas, January 5, 2007 – /A recent contract extension between Bayer Animal Health and the American Quarter Horse Association will continue the success of equine research.

With its three-year extension, Bayer will continue to donate $25,000 annually to the American Quarter Horse Foundation Equine Research Fund. Bayer has been the official animal health care manufacturer of AQHA since 1984. Bayer is a name synonymous with quality animal health products like Legend ® (hyaluronate sodium) Injectable Solution for equine joint disease and Marquis ® (15% w/w ponazuril) Antiprotozoal Oral Paste for treatment of Equine Protozoal Myeloencephalitis (EPM).

“AQHA has enjoyed a successful relationship with Bayer for more than 22 years now, and their contributions to the industry have benefited all AQHA members,” said AQHA Executive Vice President Bill Brewer. “I look forward to our future relationship with Bayer, and I feel certain that all horses will benefit from their commitment to equine research.”

In addition to its equine research efforts, Bayer serves as title sponsor of the Bayer Select World Championship Show. In its fifth year of existence, the Bayer Select World Show is held in Amarillo each September and is exclusive to amateur exhibitors age 50 and older. The 2006 event boasted more than 800 entries.

Bayer also sponsors the AQHYA and AQHA World Championship Shows, as well as the Bank of America^® Quarter Horse Racing Challenge, specifically the Bayer Legend Series for 3-year-olds. In addition, Bayer sponsors the AQHA Racing Champions Announcements that take place in January and the AQHA/Bayer Best Remuda Award, annually awarded to historic ranches that produce outstanding American Quarter Horses for ranch work.
