Cutting Horses, Mental Illness and Unwavering Faith wrapped up in Loving Larry: A Tribute to the Lady Who Named Peptoboonsmal

Author Elaine Hall signing her book Loving Larry at the  National Cowgirl Museum** and Hall of Fame Friday, Dec. 8 from 6 – 8 p.m.

FORT WORTH, Texas – Elaine Hall, a Weatherford cutting horse breeder that stood beside her husband, cutting horse legend Larry Hall, during his long battle with mental illness will sign copies of her new book /Loving Larry: A Tribute to the Lady Who Named Peptoboonsmal /at the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame on Friday, Dec. 8 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

From humble beginnings on a small Wisconsin farm, Hall rose to an enviable position, becoming the owner of Larry Hall Cutting Horses. However, her journey was not without adversity. At a time when the Halls appeared to be at the pinnacle of success, in reality their world was literally crashing apart around them. A few months after the 1995 National Cutting Horse Association World Championship Futurity, Larry Hall died. True to Elaine’s wishes, the full-blown details of the illness that tormented and destroyed her husband are revealed in her touching biography /Loving Larry/, written with her by Penny Wormet, Hall’s long-time friend and high school classmate from Wisconsin.

Hall describes her ordeal facing the fatal mental illness that took her husband’s life in explicit detail, as well as the sustaining power of her faith in God – a faith that gave her strength to meet the challenges of living with a manic-depressive spouse and courage to carry on with their business after his death. Along with the history and development of their legendary horses, the impact and emotional anguish of Larry’s bipolar disease was tactfully portrayed in /Loving Larry/ with the goal of helping others facing similar situations.

Details:

Hall will be at the Museum on Friday, Dec. 8 starting at 6 p.m. to sign copies of Loving Larry. Copies of Loving Larry are available for purchase at the Museum’s Gift Shop.
