NEW AMERICAN QUARTER HORSE JOURNAL PREMIERS THIS JUNE

Lower breeder rates, new sectioned layout and same great content

The American Quarter Horse Journal, May 13, 2008 – The much-anticipated new American Quarter Horse Journal is only a few weeks away from mailboxes. With the official publication of the world’s largest equine breeJuned registry premiering big changes to celebrate its 60th anniversary, now is the time to subscribe or renew.

The Journal’s changes will include improved audience targeting with a new, easily navigated layout sectioned for different disciplines.  Now breeders can reach specific audiences that target their horses’ best traits and enjoy lower breeder color advertising rates. As the award-winning Journal makes these improvements, it remains committed to the quality content that readers have come to expect while continuing to offer the most economical cost per thousand of any national equine publication.

Serving as the voice of the American Quarter Horse industry for more than half a century, the Journal has brought its readers the greatest events, introduced them to legendary horses and people, and provided tips on riding, training, management and health. This tradition of publication excellence drives 235,000 people to read the Journal each month, including more AQHA judges and professionals than any other publication according to a recent study.

Continuing the commitment to reader and advertiser satisfaction that has gained it this audience, the Journal will debut new color-coded sections that will get its readers where they want to be – faster. These sections are organized by disciplines: halter; rail and pattern; reining, cutting and cow horse; speed, rodeo and ropes; and ranching. This layout will not only make the Journal easier for readers to navigate, but it also will make advertisements more visible and relevant to their targeted audiences.

“We are excited about these improvements,” AQHA Executive Director of Publications Jim Jennings said. “These changes come after extensive research and focus group comments where readers and advertisers gave us input on ways to improve the Journal to fit their needs. We are highly committed to helping breeders and owners market their horses and believe these changes reflect that commitment.”

As always, the Journal will bring its readers the stories, articles, statistics and information they depend on for success. The showcase June issue will feature the rule changes from the 2008 AQHA Convention and an article on what AQHA is doing for shows in its general news section. Rail and pattern enthusiasts will be sure to benefit from AQHA professional horsewoman Lynn Palm’s tips on how to feel diagonals in their section, and speed eventers will love Professional Horseman Doug Leasor’s barrel racing clinic put to paper in the speed, rodeo and ropes section. Other sections will include tips on sliding stops and a fun “name the brand” quiz.

Current subscribers will not want to miss any of this content or what will be the cornerstone of a new era for the industry’s leading magazine.
