NEW CLONING TECHNOLOGY MIGHT MEAN IMPROVED EHV VACCINES

Japanese researchers recently reported the use of the technology “Bacterial Artificial Chromosome (BAC) cloning,” which enabled the scientists to clone the entire genome of a virus in bacteria. The technique could be used to mass produce infectious equine herpesvirus-4 (EHV-4), allowing researchers to study differences in this and related viruses’ ability to cause disease.
