Pacific Legend aka Cowboy died November 13th

11-13-08

Pacific Legend aka Cowboy died as a result of a sroke at his home at Cleveland near Cut-n-Shoot Texas today owned since he was a 6yr old until his death at 30 1/2 yrs. by Cheryl Williams Lambert. He was a Pole Bending and Barrel racer and a Play day horse as well. But more than that a true friend and great “therapist” who help me through so many of the curves that life threw my way. I would grab my 5 gal. bucket in the middle of my barn pull it up, he would come up and nuzzle me and the conversation would flow out of me, some tears, some laughter, sometimes things I have never told anyone else before, never since.

I laid with him today as he drew his last breath as the drugs flowed threw his viens to put him down, knowing their was nothing more I could do for him, but that he would be going with me, for I have made plans for this day for many years, for you see, I had someone from Live Oak Cremations coming for him. So I laid with him for as long as I could until I heard the rumbling of the trailer coming down the road and across the cattle guard and backing up to the barn and with a broken heart I said good-bye for now, but only for now, for he will be buried with me when I am buried, that is my last request….my highest regard I can give to the best friend I have ever had.

One who was ALWAYS there for me….I honestly Loved this horse and he Loved me. This is my story. Pacific Legend 4-17-78   11-13-08   out of Raise A Native , Native Dancer , and a Top Deck mare and recieved his ROM in Pole Bending with the AQHA.  One letter couldn’t hold all of his achievements or the people’s lives he touched.
So let this just simply be my personal goodbye to my friend.
Cheryl Williams Lambert
