FORT WORTH, TEXAS—Do you have a young reiner that can slide a perfect 11 or spin a hole in the ground? If so, the American Paint Horse Association (APHA) is offering a special cash payout through it’s Paint Preferred incentive program for top registered Paint Horses entered in the Open division of the 2007 National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) Futurity.
APHA recently renewed its alliance with NRHA and reformatted the Paint Preferred incentive program. As a result, APHA will offer up to $120,000 annually to Paint Horses competing in select competitions with its alliance partners.
The changes to the Paint Preferred program mean that APHA will pay out additional percentages to owners whose horses place in the top three of the Open division. Actual payout amounts will depend on the NRHA Futurity’s purse. Based on the show’s 2006 purse, more than $40,000 in added incentive money could be paid out by APHA this year!
“We are excited about the changes to our Paint Preferred format,” said Paint Programs Coordinator Jessica McDaniel. “Not only do we encourage Paint owners to aim high in some of the equine industries’ most prestigious competitions, we also give them the chance to earn more money than ever through the revamped incentive.”
The Paint Preferred program is open to 3-year-old Regular Registry and Solid Paint-Bred Paint Horses. Owners must be APHA members in good standing in order to receive payouts.
