Bamberg Veterinary Clinic Dr. James Mitchell says the day of the large animal veterinarian could be numbered.
“A vet can’t make a living only seeing cows who go down on occasion or have to pull a calf,” Mitchell said. “It is hard to get somebody to go out to see a cow. Unfortunately, often times that means the cow dies if they can’t handle it themselves. That does take a toll on this area and cattle production. I have had to turn people away.”
Mitchell is one of a handful of large animal vets in The T&D Region, but he is no longer taking any new clients. Read more…
