Tainted Feed Kills Fourth Horse

WINTER HAVEN | A fourth horse at Masterpiece Equestrian Center in Davie has died because of complications from eating tainted feed manufactured by Lakeland Animal Nutrition.

The 8-year-old registered quarter horse was euthanized Monday because of its deteriorating health, said Debra Buis, a spokeswoman for the center and owner of one of the 22 horses who ate feed contaminated with the antibiotic monensin. The chemical is a common ingredient in cattle feed that is poisonous to horses. For more of the story click here
