LEXINGTON, Ky. — Sign up now at TheHorse.com/Webinars to attend TheHorse.com’s free live Webinar on Understanding Foal Care on Thursday, April 17, at 8 p.m. EDT, sponsored by Intervet. Kimberly Sprayberry, DVM, Dipl. ACVIM, of Hagyard Equine Medical Institute in Lexington, Ky., will discuss prenatal care and the health of foals from birth through weaning. Dr. Sprayberry offers special insight from the often-hectic front lines of one of the world’s busiest equine neonatal intensive care facilities. She will help Webinar participants understand how to prepare a mare for foaling, the stages of labor, what can go wrong with foals, and how owners and their veterinarians can work together to avoid these problems.
Webinar participants may also submit questions now to THWebinars@TheHorse.com for Dr. Sprayberry to answer during the live seminar. Wendy Vaala, DVM, Dipl. ACVIM, Intervet equine technical services specialist and a former private practitioner in New Jersey, will also help answer questions during the presentation. Vaala often speaks about Intervet’s Foal Care Program (foalcare.com), which is an online service designed to take a horse owner through the entire foaling process, beginning with the health of the mare and continuing through the first year of the foal’s life. The Intervet Foal Care program includes interactive online tools for tracking growth and a foal’s medical history, as well as information on how to feed, vaccinate, and deworm the foal.
After registering to participate in the Webinar, registrants will receive courtesy e-mail reminders about the Webinar approximately 24 hours and one hour prior to the start of the program.
