Changes leads in the front end but doen’t change the rear

I have a 5 yr. old mare that when she gets to the second barrel changes leads in the front end but doen’t change the rear end until the back side of the barrel which is causing a hesitation. Do you have an exsercise that may help with this.

Bobby!

Do you have our book, “Barrel Racing, Training The Wright Way?” If not, I would like to suggest a copy – it has some training exercises that you can use to teach your horse to drive with it’s hind end and will help a horse get comfortable enough to learn to maintain the lead and forward motion in the turn. I’m talking about loping circles of varying sizes and speed around the barrels.
