Hello,
I have a question that I need help with.
I adopted my horse this year and previously a couple years ago he had a fracture of the right hind sesamoid.
He can lope, trot, and jump no problems….
I want to excel in barrel racing and I am wondering will he ever be able to do it?
Thanks,
Jen Adasavage
If your horse has no problems jumping, then I would think that he can probably run barrels. Be sure and use protective boots on him when you work him and compete on him and spend some extra time caring for the old injury by doing things like icing the leg after you run him and then wrapping it with a cooling liniment. NEVER run him if you notice extra swelling or soreness in either hind leg – and it could be that your vet will want to inject that ankle periodically if he/she thinks it might help.
