Get faster

howdy,

I have a 7 year old gleding he is doing good on barrels and poles. but i have my frist rodeo to go to. in sept 5 or 7 and my hust to ran on barrels a 35….. some thing and now he rideds a 20.057how can i ggt him faster? and on poles he hust to ran a 31.870. now he runs 27.571 but coming back the last 3 poles he just starts slowing down but when we are racing home he hall but. how can i get him to come going fast?

You might try sprinting your horse out in the open or down a racetrack to get a little more run in him. You only want to sprint him about 75-100 yds and only do this a couple of times a week until he starts to run more when you compete. Be sure that where you sprint him has good level ground with some cushion to it or you stand a chance of soring him or crippling him.
