What you look for in a horse to barrel race

hi my name is Johnna Churchill and I barrel race.
I just wanted to know what you look for in a horse to barrel race or how you know sort of know if a horse might be a good prospect. I wander if you could tell me how you keep your horse in shape.

I’m barrelracing on a 6 yr. old gray mare named Cee Bars Barita , she’s very consistent and very fast. Just in case anything ever happens to her though I just wanted to know what you look for. We’ve had a few problems where Cee Bar got kind of sore but we took her to a vet in Navasota Tx. She’s doing just fine now and were back around the barrels. In case you wanted to know I’m just twelve going on thirteen and I can use all the tips I can get. Thankyou very much.

The best suggestion I can make is that you buy our book, “Barrel Racing, Training The Wright Way”. It can give you lots of information on choosing the right horse, caring for and training that horse, and keeping your horse tuned in order to make the best runs.
