AVMA wants clarification on USDA’s animal ID replacement plan

The USDA’s announcement earlier this month that it would drop its plan for a National Animal Identification System and focus on “disease traceability” received a mixed reaction from within the industry. The president of R-CALF USA called the move a major victory for independent cattle producers,” while the National Pork Producers Council said it had questions as to the effectiveness of USDA’s new plan.
