Ruger seems to be doing even better today. He actually picked up a dog toy!!! His mouth has been so sore that he has not even thought of picking up anything since early December!!! He also is licking his bowl clean which he has not done in a while. We are on the mend....But, he does not want to Drink water....Any suggestions???

Rachel he likes his NingXia put that in water to flavor the water - he might drink then.

Maybe a little salt on his tongue?   You put salt in horses feed to make them drink.??  Don't see why this wouldn't work with him but I'd try the NingXia first.

Right now he rather drink from a mud puddle than the water bowl!!! Maybe I just need to let him do that for a while!!! The other pups are drinking to the extreme from the water bowl...Just not Ruger.....

We had a dog get parvo one time, she quit drinking so I took a syringe and filled it with water and made her drink every few hours.

You can also ask your vet for Iv's and fluids and if you can put a line in do that. Although you will have to keep him confined so that he doesn't pull it out.

Hope that helps. I hate when my babies get sick.

Mix plain jello in a thick formula.  Like only use 1/2 water and get a big suringe and give as much as he will drink  Not only is the water good the jello adds good stuff to their body and helps them.  Give him all he will drink it will not hurt him
Good Luck
Takin' barrel racing to the Xtreme.....

I added some broth to the water today. He drank a little more than yesterday. Giving him anything by syringe is hard cause he will not open his mouth due to the huge abscess on his jaw.....But, I have been mixing his food with lots of chicken broth and the nigxia juice.....
